We flew back from Geneva to Brussels. We left one day in between us flying back to Denver and wanted to make the most of it. Our heart really wasn't in it at this point since we were pretty warn down from traveling so much and always on the go. Funny how you are on a vacay and that makes you tired! Ha! We were going to visit Bruges, but Anneke's boyfriend from their recommended Ghent.
We took a commuter train to the town about a half hour outside of Brussels and enjoyed the scenes mainly from the canals. Taking boats is by far my favorite way to see these cities with canals. There are so many details that go missed otherwise. The guilded homes also kept me looking up and taking about a million pictures. It is hard to put your camera down when you are in Europe.
That ended our time in Europe. We had an amazing, authentic Belgium dinner at this little side restaurant in Brussels that ended our time perfectly. Our final night, we grabbed some chocolates at Leonidas and took them to the Grand Place for one last time of taking in a 365 degree view of European buildings. I'm grateful Ian made this trip happen, and now he already wants to return (mission accomplished)!
The biggest highlight of all is actually becoming a travel companion with Ian. We HATED, argued non-stop, yelled, got SUPER angry with each other up until this trip, when we traveled. We both had to take and give a little on this trip and it turned us into non-argumentative travel buddies. That, by far, is the biggest and best accomplishment that has happened to us in a long time. I wouldn't want any other travel buddy, even if it took us 6.5 years to finally get the hang of it.
Hope to see you again soon, Europe!
