Megan and Jonny, two East Coast New Yorkers (who you might remember from back here) moved to Denver together when Megan began her graduate work. Megan said, “one of our first winter trips, we stopped in Vail for lunch and it was nothing short of enchanting. It looked like a European village and the walk-ability factor majorly appealed to us as former New Yorkers!” They decided Vail would be the backdrop to their wedding day after falling in-love with the village.
There were numerous details and personal touches Megan and Jonny added to their day that were very thoughtful. First, they made sure to have “humans of honor” rather than a traditional wedding party. They wanted to honor their friends as individuals. Finn, their corgi- mix dog, was the “dog of honor” who trotted the rings down the aisle. Finn was rescued by Megan and Jonny right after moving to Denver and is very much a member of the family.
With Jewish traditions from Jonny's side of the family, and Megan's love of poetry, it made for such an unique and special ceremony between the big pine trees. You will see a gorgeous chuppah, a water colored Ketubah (which is a Jewish marriage agreement they both signed), and jewel-toned florals.
The reception was full of florals that scattered tables, berries for guests to enjoy as they mingled, and a laid-back evening full of laughter. Guests were greeted and seated by finding their "party animals!" Megan and her father practiced the most fun choreographed dance! I loved this wedding day because Megan and Jonny wanted to have their family and friends feel loved and accepted just as they are!
