Is there a sweeter combination than a newborn and a pup! Nope! Add in that this cute family are some good friends, and it made for a precious and dear session. Baby Oliver and my son are almost exactly a year apart. I had so many flashbacks while doing this in-home newborn session. Everyone adjusting, learning each other, feeling sleep deprived! Parenthood is a wild ride and capturing some of those first, foggy and hazy moments are a treasure to look back on.
Rabari the pup happens to be best friends with my dog, June! We love Rabari and it was fun to watch him explore baby Oliver. Trying to figure out what this new "thing" is in his life and how he fits in. I can tell these two will be fast friends in a few months!
Marcus and Kiki took on parenthood with such grace. I especially enjoy photographing the father when doing these sessions. I think the mother takes on so much starting from pregnancy, and once that child is born the partner gets to step in more and help. I wanted to capture daily activities that happen over and over like swaddling, holding, and walking around with the baby. My heart always goes out to the mother at a newborn session. They have endured a marathon and then are expected to switch from pregnancy to postpartum, learning the best way to feed their child, along with intense healing.
It was an honor to be welcomed into their home and capture moments that I hope everyone will love looking back on after getting a bit more sleep!
