2020 was the year of microweddings and elopements! I kicked off my FIRST wedding of the season with these two and it wasn't until mid-June! Typically I am in full blown wedding season by then but because of the pandemic most of my weddings either postponed or cancelled. Mary and Jerry, who you might remember from back here, are just the sweetest couple. With following all the of the county guidelines, they were able to gather only their immediate family members for an intimate ceremony in Mary's family's backyard.
Although I know it was not what these two had planned, everything came together so well...even a crazy storm that passed through so quickly right before the ceremony! Before these two said "I-do" we went to the fields right behind Mary's home and took some portraits. You can just see that storm brewing in the background! Then we headed to Mary's home where family waited. Her sweet old pup, Callie, was even able to be by her side. Sadly, right after the wedding Callie passed away. I am so glad we could capture some really dear moments between Callie and Mary.
After the ceremony Mary and Jerry wanted to do a waffle party because why not! Mary's favorite food are waffles, so during a time when all plans went out the window, they thought it would be fun to just enjoy some yummy waffles with their families!
I learned so much from this wedding day. A pandemic can definitely derail all your plans when it comes to a social gathering. BUT, with careful, cautious planning and following guidelines there are still opportunities to get married! As many have said this past wedding season, love still wins!
