On the bucket list was Four Corners. But once we got to the entrance and found out the cost per car I said, NO THANKS, and we made a u-turn right outta there! And off we went to Page, Arizona.
It is funny how on a map things just look SO much closer than they really are. And it is a bit of a bummer when you head out and realize that what should take just a few hours..is really like 5…6…7 hours. Day 3 was a lot of driving. Mesa Verde was in the morning and then we just kept driving and driving until we made it to Page. The plan was to camp somewhere, anywhere really. That place was bustling with tourists and motor homes, with very few spots to just camp at (unless you want to camp next to an RV.) Lake Powell runs right into Page and makes for a great place to stop off at. We luckily found a perfect place to camp at Lone Rock beach. The name is a given when you see the images below.
We put that tent right in front of that Lone Rock. And woke up to the best sunrise. Lake Powell is also home to house boats galore. I think that would be so fun to take a boat out to the lake but for this trip we just put our toes in at Lone Peak Beach.

Page has a ton going on. I feel if you even happen to get slightly bored, it is your own fault. We checked out Horseshoe Bend and it was a little frightening but totally worth the freak out when looking into the canyon. The Colorado River has carved a few bends into the rocks and this is not the only one, but definitely a popular one. Just look at those views! EEEEK! Makes me nervous all over again with that drop off!
I loved this guy flirting with that darn drop off. Sadly, there have been a few deaths at Horseshoe. So be safe if you make the trek.
Our paths crossed with one of your friends from Oregon. He actually has gone on a ton of adventures with us, or we could say vise versa this past year. He deserves a blog post some day. Luckily our paths crossed in Page and we actually took two trips to Horseshoe Bend. The pictures below are from the first trip out to the bend during sunset. We had just missed the sun setting but boy, was it beautiful. To the right is my husband dangling his feet over the cliff. No comment to that!!! More crazy Page adventures to come…
